This report established the first credible data on Michigan’s homeless and revealed compelling statistics. As a charter member of the Michigan Homeless Assistance Advisory Board, I accepted the challenge to describe the data reporting methodology, set the tone for the publication, creative direct the design and write all of the content. The challenge was to deliver powerful new facts about who is homeless and why, breaking down the data in bite-sized chunks. It was important to put a human face to the many experiencing homelessness and to describe the state’s response to the problems surrounding this issue.
